The Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport in St. Kitts is the major gateway for air travel to St Kitts Nevis. It is a modern airport facility that is served by various means of air travel including scheduled air carriers, direct charter flights as well as private jets.
In Nevis, the Vance W. Amory International Airport, is the main gateway for air travel. Although jumbo jets do not fly into Nevis, accommodating the larger aircraft such as the De Havilland Dash 8 and ATR 42 and ATR 72 used by regional air carriers including LIAT, American Eagle that bring scores of travellers for Caribbean family vacations, family adventure vacations and business travel is no problem.
And if you are a corporate executive arriving by private jet, you too can be accommodated since direct air travel access to Nevis is available to private jets. A St Kitts private jet terminal or fixed based operation (FBO) is under construction at the RLB International Airport and is scheduled to open sometime in 2013.

There are numerous options for air travel to St Kitts Nevis if you are coming from North America. If you are looking for non stop flights from the Unites States your best bet is American Airlines or US Airways. American has daily flights from Miami and twice weekly flights New York on Wednesdays and Sundays, while US Airways have weekly scheduled non stop air travel to St Kitts Nevis from Charlotte, North Carolina, with connections to and from major US gateway cities. Starting on November 16, 2012, American Airlines will be adding two additional flights from Miami, one on Fridays and the other on Saturdays. Air Canada Vacations offers weekly non-stop flights on Fridays during the high season. This service which began in December 2011 and will continue through April 2012. The service will resume on December 21, 2012 and continue through March 29, 2013. This way you can avoid the hassles related to changing airplanes.
If stopping over in another beautiful Caribbean island is not a problem for you (even if all you get to see is the airport), then try one of the scheduled carrier services from the USA to St Kitts provided by American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Northwest, Caribbean Airlines, and other airlines via hubs in San Juan, St Maarten or Antigua.
Just in case you are wondering... American Airlines/American Eagle is my favourite for scheduled air travel to St Kitts Nevis, for the simple reason that whenever I fly on American, my AAdvantage miles add up. I can then use the miles I accumulate to claim upgrade or travel awards on American Airlines - American Eagle or any of the One World carriers, plus other airlines including Alaska Airlines, EL AL, Japan Airlines and a host of others. Forgive me if I seem a bit biased towards American but that's just my preference. Don't worry though, I still keep my ears open for cheap airline ticket specials to and from St Kitts on all airlines. Scheduled carrier air travel to St Kitts Nevis from Europe is through any of the main Caribbean hubs located in St Maarten, Antigua or San Juan. Air France, KLM and Lufthansa are among the airlines that have flights to Sint Maarten/St. Martin with onward travel connections to St Kitts Nevis via LIAT, and Winair. British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Caribbean Airlines fly into Antigua from the United Kingdom and you can connect to LIAT to St Kitts and Nevis. British Airways also offers two weekly flights to St. Kitts on Tuesdays and Saturdays from London's Gatwick Airport. Iberia Airlines flies to San Juan and from there, air travel to St Kitts Nevis is easy to connect to on American Eagle. A number of regional and international air carriers including LIAT, Winair, American Eagle, Air Sunshine and Coastal Air provide air travel connections to Nevis from the major Caribbean hubs. Regular scheduled flights and air charter services between St Kitts and Nevis are also available.
When it comes to flying within the region, air travel to St Kitts Nevis from other Caribbean islands is a breeze, with multiple flights per day operated by LIAT and Winair. LIAT offers multiple flights to facilitate Caribbean family adventure vacations and business travel.
So whether you plan to visit for leisure or business, when you decide to plan your air travel to St Kitts Nevis, your trip options will be wide open. However please remember to make your airline reservations early to catch in on the massive discounts. If you are planning on visiting at the end of June or July, early August or at Christmas, remember to reserve your flights, hotels or vacation packages early since those times are busy periods in St. Kitts and Nevis (St. Kitts Music Festival, Nevis Culturama and Christmas and Carnival in St. Kitts).
Other options for getting to St Kitts Nevis include Caribbean cruises, but if you are a more adventurous sea loving person, then sailing in by yacht may be just what you are looking for.
